Court Soon!

It's Court Day! I know most of you are fast asleep or close to it, and on the other side of the world there is lots of activity as the boys are showering and getting ready to go to the Oborn's, and we are reminding them they have only a few more days to dance around naked! Hahahaha!! LaJoy humor...sorry about that :-) But then, you all know us by now!

I am feeling a little better, still not 100% myself. I was up half the night tossing and turning, unable to sleep. I got up, checked email while my stomach was gurgling, and without meaning to happened to be online when the blog rolled over to 100,000! Hahaha! So funny to watch it thinking of 3 years ago when I started it. Someone in Montrose was #99,9999 and the winner for the 100,000th hit was........Fresno, California! I know, not a biggie really, but hey...I am in Siberia and we don't have a whole lot for entertainment here!! Hahahaha!

Dominick is doing well despite knowing most of the talking will rest on his shoulders. I think that is only fair as it has usually been me AND I have done 95% of the paperwork for all the adoptions. He HATES talking in front of people which always makes me laugh because he is so outgoing, but make it formal and he gets very nervous.

I am calm, I am fine. Part of me can not believe we are here, that this day has actually arrived. There were so many times when it felt like we would never make it, and here we are! YEARS of waiting, finally over with...as long as we get a positive judgment.

The boys are excitedly prancing around yet a bit bummed because they won't get the chance to wear their suits and go to court today. We told them that if all goes well, we will try and take everyone out to celebrate at a nice restaurant so they can wear their suits there, if we have time before Daddy leaves.

So, it is time for me to go shower. You all owe Dominick a great big thank you for doing so much around the apartment to give me time to blog and keep you all caught up! As I am typing this, he is washing the dishes!! Hahahaha!

We're on our way! Hopefully, the next time I write it will be accompanied by pictures of a brand new family!!

Yahoo! You sound great in this blog and it is a relief to know you are feeling better! I can totally imagine your silly boys running around the apartment in excitement and Dominick happily doing the dishes! I will sleep slightly better for a few hours after reading this blog so...thank you and go get 'em! Remind Dominick if he gets nervous to imagine the judge...in a speedo? Can't wait to see pictures of the whole Team LaJoy - finally! Lots of love and hugs galore! Miss Joan

Prayers for you all. I doubt I'll be awake when the court is over, but I will definitely be checking for an update first thing when I wake up. Oh - and thanks to Dominick for doing the dishes while you blog. :)

Wahoo, Happy Court Day to Team LaJoy! We are so excited for you here in Texas - my Mom and I were just on the phone speculating when you'd post an update! We are all cheering you on and can't wait to hear how everything goes. Please tell Dominick I say thanks for enabling you to keep us all posted ;)
Best of luck !!!

Hi Cindy and Family.....

I'd have thought you'd be used to the court process by now! Personally I was terrified.....and after more than an hour of waiting for the judge to come back, I was pacing the floor!!

No need to worry, she was just typing up all of the paperwork herself! GL, I'm sure that all will be fine.

Im awake and will be waiting and praying in Australia - I think we are only a few hours difference - and will be looking forward to hearing about the wonderful outcome.
I was going to ask, are you able to tell us a little generically what happens in court, what do they ask about and will your first week in K be shared with the judge???

Checking your blog for updates is a great way to spend my insomnia hours. Or maybe that is the case of the insomnia? Either way, my thoughts are with you and I look forward to reading the next installment!

Hi Cindy,
Boy, it really has been a journey to get to this point. Wow... you are going to court... the formal final step. In fact, you may be in court right now... or perhaps even done. I will anxiously await the news... and the PHOTOS! So exciting!

Wow, my timing is excellent! I just found your blog via Dee's blog and just spent the last three hours reading it from just before you landed in Kazakhstan until this last post. Boy you sure have been on an extra special journey. All adoption journeys are pretty intense but you got the extra special intense trip didn't you? So glad things turned out so well, I was on pins and needles reading along there for a while. I adopted my daughter at the age of four from Kazakhstan in April of last year. The challenges have been many but the rewards have been incredible....I am sure I don't need to tell you this as you are an adoption veteran. Older adopted children are such incredibly strong people. To me, in a way, they are like superheroes. They come with all this iron in their spines. So, as parents it is our job to teach them about softness, and the soft things of life, love, affection, gentleness. I always view older adopted children as having the real potential to be absolutely amazing human beings because they have such depth of experiences. They are not shallow in the least. They have the wisdom some people take fifty plus years to acquire. And their level of appreciation for what they have once they become integrated into their family is immense. Even to this day, my now five year old daughter will look at me with wonder, joy, and appreciation in her eyes as I hand her a second piece of fruit. These children know the true value of the important things in life. Amazing children they are that have started life out this way. Truly amazing.

I'll be delighted to see the photos of the family, but you have already given us an intense, wise, and loving picture of the LaJoy Family. Thank you for sharing this intimate, personal journey with those who love you, those who are beginning the adoption journey, those who have also adopted, and those who are just beginning to love you. Thanks, Dom, for the dishes and meals and dusting, etc. I'd tell the boys to wash their necks (my mother was on me about this often), but I've never seen them anything but clean, shiny, with smiles on their faces--unless it was Matthew concentrating intently on his next project. Now we get to know the rest of the family. Hurrah!

Love,
Lael
