A Quick Explanation

Maria asked a question on the blog that I felt needed to be answered so everyone would understand the policy here.

Children over 10 are allowed to decide if they want to be adopted or not and speak for themselves and their younger siblings in court. While we may question the wisdom of children this young making life altering decisions for themselves when they may be unable to fully understand the long term ramifications, that is the rule here.

We ourselves would never place a decision of this magnitude in the hands of a child so young.

However, we also would never adopt a child who didn't willingly want to participate in family life.

Day #3 begins, we remain hopeful, loving and patient. We remain present.

We remain Team LaJoy, regardless of the outcome.

Much love to all who are being so loving in our time of turmoil.

Cindy I have tears for you all but mostly for the girls as I fear if they stay behind they will regret it forever and what a burden they will carry. I cant keep my mind off you all, you are all constantly in my thoughts. May God continue to carry you and hug you all close both individually and collectively.

Watching, Reading and Praying.. It does seem from your vivid explainations that you make baby steps and then fall back into the well. I hope your steps forward come more frequent then the steps back. Just a thought... Maybe Kenny could talk to the girls (with the interpretter of course) and tell them he was also in an orphanage and how his life has changed. Maybe thats too much pressure.. But as I said last night I am no expert.

I think we are ALL watching the LAJOY situation Cindy, and spending a lot of time thinking about you all. You are blessed to be receiving comments from all sides about the good, the bad and the ugly, I know you are well aware of the potential benefits and risks.....and your family decision will be one of calculated risk.
At the moment, you are *all* still 'information gathering' to make those decisions. GL.

It is a blessing to read all the comments from people around the world who are united in prayer for your family. From our lips to His ears.

Oh how I wish we could talk.... just keep things quiet and simple and as much like home life as you can when you're with them. Avoid public places if you can, no matter how exciting it may sound and how entertained you may think they'll be.
There will be struggles for control, especially teaching the older to allow you to be the mom for the younger. Be strong physically-if you don't remember me talking about the holding, ask me....so important to the trusting and bonding while you're there, if there's an opportunity. Tired of advice yet :o)?
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Cindy and family..I have not had the werewithal to truly read and follow along, but know you all have been in my thoughts and prayers....I see the general picture here, and though I plan to read about it all in depth when family is gone and John is at work and I am alone...I know at least that your hearts are hurting and mine is hurting for yours. I'm obviously lifting lots of prayers...and for your family and the girls especially.
Much love....

Thank you SO MUCH. I've pondered this through the evening because it seemed so opposite of the way I'd think you'd think that I found it odd. Kevin and I, however, had fascinating discussions about the possibilities and ramifications of allowing children in those situations to make decisions. Seems neither of us could find a happy answer -- which shed more light on the quandry you certainly are in. Just know that we are all praying for you here in Tennessee and we have the faith to know that God will take care of it all -- even though it's going to be a hard row to walk for a while, it seems. HUGS!!!!

LaJoy Family,

I have followed your blog for many months but have been a silent observer. My husband and I went through a similar experience as you are going through now this past August. I know and understand the feelings you are having and the knowledge that God has placed you there for a reason and purpose. You have that peace that passes all understanding. We will pray for your family to continue to be in one accord and thatyou to continue to seek God's face.

Blessings,

Kris

Cindy, you are right where you are supposed to be with God in control. It may not make sense to us, but God has a plan. The peace you are feeling can only be from God. I'm so proud of the decisions that your family is making. I can only imagine the inner turmoil that these 2 girls most be feeling. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
