What Love Can Do

On this, the day of my 700th blog post (whodathunk it?), I can think of no more appropriate way to illustrate what this blog is really all about than to share these photos with you. Although I never care (a mild way of saying I HATE it) for having my picture taken, I am so grateful to our friend Lenore who whipped out her camera this afternoon to snap a few of the girls and I. When she sent them to me this evening I just sat and stared at them for a little while, realizing I was seeing on screen the transformative power of love, right there before my eyes.

This, folks, is what love can do. Why do the tears spring forth as I think of all these precious daughters of ours have missed all these years? How they are now drinking eagerly from the pool that is the only one that can ever truly fill any of us up!! Ignore the fat lady in the middle with the classless "Mom Uniform" of an awful green tshirt and jeans, and see how God has worked in the hearts of 2 little girls who were so terrified, so hurt, so hardened. We were incapable of making any of this happen, only God could.

I am living it, and I still am sitting here in disbelief at the greatest magic of all.

Love.

Firstly 700th post??!!! Congrats - thank you for sharing so much with us who have come to 'know' and 'love' and 'admire' you and your family....

Secondly Cindy - I echo Jackie in saying 'Beautiful'! ... How great your trust in God was and how He knew what He was doing when He chose you to be a mother to these two sisters ... and of course your 3 boys.... Yes, I know you and Dominick are blessed beyond words but your 5 children are also so blessed to have you as their parents...

As for 'ignore the fat lady in classless Mom uniform'' (your comment .. not mine!!)... you are waaay too hard on yourself but it had me smiling as I too HATE to be anywhere but behind the camera and only go in front when I am having a 'good day' - not very often so I understand exactly whee you are coming from..and have me know to make similiar comments about myself. I often think that my kids will grow up with all these varying pictures of them with their dad or each other and I won't be seen anywhere!! HA!

So be proud of yourself and take joy in these photos as they capture the miracle of your two girls with the very important person who is doing a #1 job of helping them heal.

Again thanks for sharing....If I was one eighth as good a mother as you are I would be very happy...

Sorry! That should have read 'been known' instead of 'me know'

700th post, wow, and you and Dom are raising the kids with such care and love. The mom uniform looks great on you, but it isn't the tee-shirt or jeans. It is the smile, the open arms, the presence of one who loves, the constancy. Wear your mom uniform with pride.

Kudos and love, Cindy,
Lael

Oh, Cindy....what fun we had with you all last evening! I'm so glad you let me take the pictures and that you posted them here! There are so many people who want to see your smiling face on your blog. I'm glad I was able to help supply that, and I hope to do a lot more of it in the future!

You have the most beautiful family....yes, visually they are beautiful, but most importantly all of their hearts are beautiful! Thoughtful, kind and pure LaJoy are the words that come to mind! Others see it and recognize it often. Please don't second guess yourself, my friend!! You and Dominick are doing an AWESOME job!!!

Cindy, Please dont be so hard on yourself! God isnt that hard on you! I prefer my t-shirt or even some nice stretchy yoga/jogging pants or the jeans. I have been going through wardrobe looking at it wondering how I am going to pull off going to Ecuador for our adoption and looking nice! I can see that smile and laughter comes from a beautiful place...... keep up the good work my dear!

Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos, Cindy. It is amazing to see how bonded the girls are to you. Not surprising, but only in the small amount of time it's taken. I know some days it probably seemed like it would never happen, but think about it. You haven't been home that long! God is doing a mighty work in these girls' hearts. It's called love and healing and peace and security.

Cindy,

Remember your confidence in yourself will give the girls confidence in themselves :) My mom is drop dead gorgeous and thin, and I always feel inadequete -- don't let that happen! By believing in your beauty inside and out, the girls will learn to appreciate their beauty as well!

Cindy, those pictures are absolutely beautiful. I've always thought you should post more pictures of yourself on your blog, and I'm so glad we're getting to see more of you these days! Really glad to hear how well everything is going.
